A Travel Agent's Most Personal Destination
From a toddler's first trip to a teenager rolling his eyes (and still having the time of his life) — this is my love letter to the most magical place on Earth.
Our Family Story
I still remember the look on my son's face as he sat in Cinderella's lap and watched the fireworks from the castle. He was two years old, barely able to walk in a straight line, and completely transfixed. That moment planted a seed that has been growing for fourteen years and counting.
What began as a Florida tradition has turned into something I never could have fully predicted: an honest-to-goodness Disney world tour. Together, we've experienced the magic in Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Tokyo Disney, and Disneyland Paris — and every single time, there's that same feeling when the castle comes into view.
"Now he's sixteen and thinks he's too grown for Disney. Then the fireworks start, and I catch him smiling — and I know we'll be doing this for the rest of our lives."
Of course, he's not the only one keeping the tradition alive. My adult nieces and their little ones have joined our crew, along with a circle of friends who love Disney just as fiercely as I do. Disney has a beautiful way of blurring the line between generations — everyone finds their magic, whatever age they are.
But Walt Disney World in Florida? That's where it all began. And it will always hold the biggest piece of my heart. Let me take you through each of the four parks and share what makes every single one worth every step on your feet.
Where dreams really do come true.
Magic Kingdom is the original Florida park. The icon. The one with the castle that takes your breath away every single time you walk through those gates — your first time or your fiftieth. This is where the classics live: the rides your parents loved, that you loved, that your children now love. There's a generational magic here that no other park can quite replicate.
I cry at the fireworks. Every. Single. Time. I am not ashamed. Standing in front of that castle as the sky lights up and the music swells — something about it just cracks me open in the best way. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen it. The moment those first fireworks boom, the tears come, and I've stopped even trying to hold them back.
Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, and the iconic "it's a small world" — rides that have been enchanting families for generations.
Enchantment lights up the night sky over Cinderella Castle. Find a spot on Main Street U.S.A. early. Trust me. You'll want a clear view — and maybe a tissue.
Arrive at rope drop — especially for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle Run. Lightning Lane passes move fast for the headliners, so plan early.
Epcot — where you can travel around the world in a single day
World-class food, culture, and one absolutely earth-shattering ride.
Epcot is the park that grew with me. As a kid, it was all about the World Showcase and the rides. As an adult? It is absolutely the best food and drinks you will find anywhere in all of Walt Disney World — and I say that with full conviction. Between the incredible international dining in World Showcase and the festivals that take the culinary game to another level entirely, Epcot is a foodie's paradise hiding inside a theme park.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the best ride I have ever been on in my entire life. I will stand behind that statement forever. It is innovative, thrilling, funny, and so perfectly done — from the moment you step into the queue to the final note of the soundtrack. If you do only one new ride at Epcot, it is this one. Full stop.
Eleven countries, each with authentic restaurants and food kiosks. From Japan's sushi to France's crêpes to Morocco's tagine — real, remarkable food from around the globe.
Guardians: Cosmic Rewind, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, and Test Track make Epcot one of the most exciting parks on property. It's evolved beautifully.
From the iconic frozen drinks to wine flights in France to craft cocktails across World Showcase — Epcot is the only theme park where the adults might be having more fun than the kids.
One of the best-kept secrets about Epcot is that the park runs major festivals throughout the year — each one transforming World Showcase into something extra special. If you can time your trip around one, do it.
Visual art, live performances, and an exclusive culinary program featuring dishes inspired by famous works of art. It's one of the most unique experiences on property.
Jaw-dropping topiaries, gorgeous gardens, and incredible outdoor kitchens with spring-inspired bites and cocktails. Perfect for an adults' trip.
The crown jewel. Dozens of global food booths, celebrity chef demos, and a lineup of concerts — this is the festival that Epcot was born to host. Do not miss it.
Holiday traditions from across the globe are celebrated through food, music, and storytelling. Candlelight Processional — featuring celebrity narrators — is simply stunning.
Hollywood Studios — where the movies come to life
Lights, camera, and a little bit of Star Wars action.
Hollywood Studios has had one of the most remarkable evolutions of any Disney park — and I've had a front-row seat for so much of it. This park has transformed from a working studio backlot attraction into one of the most immersive, thrilling parks on property, anchored by the breathtaking Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and the beloved Toy Story Land.
I was there for the opening of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster with my mom — and I made one final trip to ride it with my son before the change took place and we moved from Aerosmith to the Muppets. Watching that ride, and that park, transform over the decades has been one of the great joys of my Disney life. From the original MGM Studios days to what it is now, Hollywood Studios has never stopped reinventing itself. I've lived it all, and I still get chills every time I walk in.
Step into a completely immersive Star Wars world — build your own lightsaber, fly the Millennium Falcon, and experience Rise of the Resistance, one of the most technically stunning rides ever built.
Slinky Dog Dash is a must for the whole family, and Toy Story Mania remains one of the most reliably fun attractions on property. A great land for all ages.
Fantasmic! is a nighttime spectacular that should be on every Hollywood Studios itinerary. The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is a classic worth catching at least once.
Animal Kingdom — where the wild things are, and they are magnificent
Wild, wonderful, and worthy of an early alarm.
Animal Kingdom is unlike any other Disney park — and honestly, unlike any other park in the world. It is equal parts wildlife sanctuary and theme park, and Disney manages to thread that needle with remarkable care and respect. The animals are real, the environments are stunning, and there is a reverence for the natural world woven into every corner of this park that I deeply love.
Expedition Everest is where you will find me first thing in the morning, every single trip. The moment the park opens, I am heading straight for that mountain. There is something about that ride — the anticipation of the backwards drop, the Yeti, the beautiful scenery — that never gets old. And watching the animals wake up in the early morning hours across the park? Pure magic.
Kilimanjaro Safaris gives you genuine close encounters with lions, giraffes, elephants, and more. Go early in the morning when the animals are most active — you won't regret it.
Flight of Passage is arguably the most breathtaking ride Disney has ever created. The bioluminescent world of Pandora at night is something you have to see to believe.
Animal Kingdom is a park that truly rewards early risers. Animals are more active, lines are shorter, and the lush landscapes feel almost mystical in the morning light.
BEYOND THE PARKS
Walt Disney World is also home to some of the most spectacular ticketed special events in the world — and they are absolutely worth the extra investment. Here are the ones I recommend most.
From that very first wide-eyed trip to watching a teenager try (and fail) to keep a straight face at the fireworks — these are the moments I live for.
A THOUGHT WORTH SHARING
Walt Disney World spans nearly 40 square miles. There are over 30 resort hotels on property — plus dozens of "Good Neighbor" hotels just outside the gates. There are hundreds of dining experiences, from quick-service bites to candlelit, hard-to-snag signature restaurants. And the parks themselves? They never stop evolving. New rides, new lands, new shows, new seasonal experiences — Disney is always changing, and keeping up with it is practically a part-time job.
Your family has its own pace, its own priorities, its own must-dos and hard passes. A great Disney trip isn't built from a template — it's built around you. What rides matter most to your kids? Are you a rope-drop family or a sleep-in family? Do you want every meal planned or do you like to wander? I help you figure all of that out before you ever step foot in the park.
New attractions open. Beloved rides close for refurbishment. Restaurants change menus and hours. Ticketed events sell out months in advance. Lightning Lane strategies shift with every update. I travel to Disney multiple times a year and invest in ongoing training — so I always know what's new, what's worth it, and what to skip right now.
Choosing where to stay isn't just about price — it's about theme, location, amenities, and which perks matter most to your group. A value resort at Disney is genuinely lovely. A deluxe resort can be transformative. A Good Neighbor hotel can stretch your budget beautifully. I'll help you find the right fit, not just any fit.
EVERY KIND OF TRIP. EVERY KIND OF TRAVELER.
Disney is one of those places where the planning can feel almost as exciting as the trip itself — when it's done right. I've spent years learning how to take the stress out of it and leave only the magic. Whatever kind of trip you're dreaming of, I'd love to help you build it.
